Mrs. Stacie Ward
The 2018-2019 academic year will be annother exciting year for Jack P. Nix Elementary School.
The staff at Jack P. Nix Elementary is dedicated to meeting the needs of every child. The hard work and dedication of the teachers and support staff is evidenced through the academic performance of our students. Our focus is on student growth and meeting the needs of the whole child. The College and Career Ready Performance Index Rating for JPN for 2017 is 88.7 (our first year as a K-5 Elementary School). Our students and staff also received the 2017 Platinum Award for Greatest Gains in Student Achievement. We are very proud of this award since it was received for our first year as a K-5 school. Previous scores from our years as a primary school are as follows: 2012 – 93.5, 2013- 93.8, 2014 – 93.7. We do not have a score for 2015 & 2016 since CCRPI changed and primary schools (which JPN was until 2016) did not receive an official score. Prior to CCRPI, JPN made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for 13 consecutive years, was named a Title I Distinguished School for 11 consecutive years and was named a Georgia School of Excellence in 2003. We are very proud of these and many other awards; however, the true indicator of our success is the joy our children find in learning.
JPN prides itself on creating a nurturing and caring environment for all who enter our doors. It is our belief that everyone – students, parents and visitors- should feel welcomed and nurtured during their time at JPN. The welcoming environment at JPN begins at our front door with an office staff that sincerely cares about our children and their families and continues throughout the school. Everyone strives to know, value, and inspire every student, every day.
This devotion to our children and families sets the stage for an environment rich in outstanding instruction from a group of experienced and dedicated educators. Along with being a very experienced staff, 90% of our teachers have earned advanced degrees. I am very grateful to our local BOE and superintendent for the support they provide allowing us to meet the needs of our children.
The classrooms of JPNES are filled with exciting experiences for all students as they learn to read and are provided opportunities to practice their newly learned skills. I am delighted as I watch the excitement and the joy our children experience as they become good readers and writers. The excitement continues as children master the concepts and applications of mathematics and explore many concepts of science and social studies. JPN offers an exemplary art, music and physical education program to complete the development of our young learners. Our school nurse encourages healthy choices with our students. It is our belief that every child is gifted in some area, thus we provide varied opportunities for children to demonstrate these talents.
If you are exploring educational opportunities for your child or if you are just curious about our school, come for a visit. It would be my pleasure to show you our school.
